Why 1 Change Makes All the Difference
When talking with dozens of business owners, HR Executives, CEO's and business people that are looking to drive change in their organization they simply don't understand why their people will not exercise and eat better. It should be simple, eat less, move more, right?
From my experience as a personal trainer in the gym setting and as a wellness consultant in the corporate setting I have learn 1 key thing: Everyone is on a different journey, with different obstacles, and different desires for their life and personal health.
We can't simply pay for a gym membership for our employees and think that all of our productivity, attendance, and health care issue will be solved.
We have to dig deep and understand what our peoples barriers to exercise and nutrition are. Do they have good intentions to join a gym and exercise regularly but lack accountability?
Maybe they have diabetes and don't know how to regulate their blood sugar alongside with exercise and are afraid they will faint when exercising?
It's possible they have body image issues and will not step foot in the gym. Now what?
The individual approach to wellness is the 1 thing you can do to impact your organization. Take the time to understand peoples struggles and provide them with the programs and tool necessary to overcome.
